I absolutely love both of my professions: software development and teaching. And if I had more time and talent, I'd also love my dream profession of being a professional singer--music fills my soul! I've played competitive sports my entire life, but they've recently taken a back seat to my personal and professional goals. Still, I feel in heaven on a basketball or tennis court, when time permits. As I look to start a family, the most important quality that I am looking for in my partner is self-understanding. In my experience, only after two people truly understand and love themselves can they possibly understand, support, and love the people they care about. This requires a willingness and courage to introspect, reflect, and self-examine. And for two people to build intimacy and trust, and to enjoy a harmonious relationship—to “be happy”—they need to be able to have open discussions and shared reflections about their journey through life: their triumphs, their struggles, their moments of joy, their periods of difficulty, etc. May I be so lucky as to find someone who values these principles.
